The Kedarkantha trek is a perfect picturesque trek in the lap of the Himalayas of Garhwal. The overall return trek distance of the Kedatkantha trek is around 24 kilometers from Sankri – a small village located closer to Kinnaur in the Uttarkashi district of Uttrakhand.
The Kedarkantha trek takes you up to its summit which touches the altitude of 3800 meters or 12468 Feet above the sea level. The view from the top offers spectacular panorama the region all around. Other lesser known peaks of the Supin Range, villages located nearby, valleys of Himachal and Garhwal. From the top of the Kedarkantha Summit, you can also view the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Praesh, The Rupin valley, Har Ki Dun valley and views that goes down to the dense settlement of Purola.
When it comes to trekking in India in winter, the Kedarkantha would be your best bet. From December to April, Kedarkantha makes for a terrific trek in virgin snow, with pretty campsites and astonishingly wide clearings in the forests. So, if you are planning to trek the Himalayas in winter, go for the Kedarkantha trek. You will not regret it.
