Fireflies Special Kothaligad Trek & Camping is one of the easy and famous treks in premonsoon period, because of its small height and easy climbing. Kothaligad is a small funnel fort near Karjat (Maharashtra). The fort is also called “Peth Fort” because of its vicinity to Peth village. Unlike other funnel hill forts, the pinnacle or the funnel is carved from the inside, forming a circular staircase that reaches the top. The superlative view from the top of the pinnacle combined with this unique and awe-inspiring engineering feat definitely deserves a visit.

The itinerary for the trek will be as follows:

Day:0 – Saturday 11 June 2022

• Catch CST-Kopholi Train on night as per below schedule
• Mumbai CSMT: 16:30pm / Dadar: 16:43pm / Kurla: 16:50pm / Ghatkopar: 16:54pm / Thane: 17:10pm / Kalyan: 17.30pm / Neral: 18.20pm
• (Do not miss the train, if you miss the train u miss the trek & no refund will entertained.)
• 18:30pm – Regroup at neral station middle & walk to parking. Local share taxi drop us at ambivali village from where our trek start.
• 20:30pm – Get ready your torch or headlamp and start stroll through jungle trail and while witnessing fireflies towards pethmachi
• 22:00pm – Reach Pethmachi have dinner and retire in sharing tent campsite / In case of rain we have to settle in villager house will be little cozy.
• Further night walk for fireflies sightseeing and long exposure photography.

Day:1 – Sunday 12 June 22 

• 05:00am – Wakeup call have tea and get quick freshen-up. Further head towards top of kothaligad funnel.
• 06:45am – Reach Kothaligad stop and Settle down open air, wait for the beautiful sunrise. Explore surrounding.
• 07:30am – Witness memorizing sunrise and descend back to village. In route breakfast and tea. Indian washroom available for freshen up.
• 09:30am – Reach ambivali village from where vehicle drop at neral station.
• 11:30am – Reach station catch respective train and trek conclude with memories.
